Reader's Guide

It’s time to begin our daily Bible reading program for 2025! This year, we’ll be reading the Exodus in its entirety — the narratives, the laws, and the teachings.

Here’s a roadmap for the plan through the rest of the year:

  • First, we’ll read through the book of Exodus at a nice and slow pace.
  • Next, we’ll read through the books of Numbers and Leviticus to get a fuller picture of Israel’s wilderness years—how they did or did not follow God and how that affected them both positively and negatively, plus what God commanded of them that was meant to define their national and personal lifestyles.
  • After those, we’ll return to the book of Exodus and read just its narratives (stories) again to let them sink deeply into our hearts.
  • And then, we’ll finish the year with the book of Deuteronomy, in which Moses preaches a series of sermons about following God completely—with the whole heart. This is Moses’ final act of leadership for Jacob’s children, and it will make a fitting place to wrap up our year-long effort.

This week’s readings are obviously the foundation of so much else that we will focus on and come to know this year. I pray that we will all embrace these first four chapters and that they whet our spiritual appetites to read and enjoy that much more of God’s word this year.
