Reader's Guide:
Tomorrow and Tuesday, we’ll read one of the most important chapters in the entire Old Testament. It’s the story of the Passover, the death of all of Egypt’s firstborns, and the exodus itself, all in one.
The event is described as “a night of watching by the Lord” (Ex. 12:42), which tells us there was something really powerful about it. It was a night on which he did one of the biggest acts of mass deliverance that he would ever do.
So be sure to read slowly this week. Take in every detail of how God describes the events, their outcomes, and his reasons behind each one. There is power in this story, brothers and sisters. It reminds us what kind of God we serve — that he is rich in mercy, justice, and righteousness. And he always saves his people.
